Technical Meeting on Enhancing Migration, Mobility, Employment and Higher Education in the RECs

Technical Meeting on Migrants’ Rights: Female Migrants and Domestic Workers
Nairobi hosted on 10–11 May 2012 a technical meeting on migrants’ rights. Experts from African and European States, civil society and international organisations shared their views and best practices with a particular emphasis on the rights of female migrants and domestic workers. Enhancing Trafficking in Persons (TIPs) Criminal Investigation, Prosecution and Victim and Witness Protection Among African and European Countries
Within the framework of the Africa-EU Migration Mobility and Employment Partnership support project, ICMPD organised the first Africa-EU intercontinental meeting on trafficking in human beings on 1–2 December 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa. This technical meeting, titled “Enhancing Trafficking in Persons (TIPs) Criminal Investigation, Prosecution and Victim and Witness Protection Among African and European Countries”, delivered specific recommendations for enhancing anti trafficking law enforcement and prosecution, as well as victim and witness protection in West and Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa. 2010 Senior Officials MME Meeting
This meeting has been the key event of the project, and gathered delegations from 62 African and European countries, as well as migration experts and representatives from regional economic communities, civil society and international organisations. The 180 participants were tasked with appraising the achievements of the MME Partnership and with fine-tuning the draft 2011–2013 MME action plan, which was subsequently endorsed at the "Heads of States Summit" in November 2010.
