Project News: MC2CM Tunis workshop for local stakeholders
On 17 November the City of Tunis hosted a stakeholder workshop in the framework of the Mediterranean City-to-City Migration project (MC2CM). The workshop was opened by M. Seifallah Lasram, the Mayor of Tunis, and gathered local stakeholders of the city of Tunis, as well as ICMPD representatives.
This was the third in a series of workshops organised in different cities that are part of the MC2CM network. The EU-funded project includes the cities of Amman, Beirut, Lisbon, Lyon, Madrid, Tangier, Tunis, Turin and Vienna. The stakeholder workshop was aimed at elaborating on priority areas related to local migration governance in Tunis, related challenges, as well as at developing concrete ideas for pilot projects.
The city of Tunis and members of the stakeholder group will build upon this workshop and continue the discussions in a follow-up meeting, scheduled to take place at the beginning of December. As an outcome of that workshop, priorities and ideas for pilot projects will be presented to the City Council.
On 29 November 2016, the MC2CM mid-term conference will bring together local elected politicians, experts and donors in Tangiers. The conference will, among others, be the opportunity to present the outcomes of the stakeholder workshop in Tunis and to discuss common trends and challenges of the MC2CM cities with regard to migration and integration.
