Libya’s Migration Technical Assistance Facility (LIBMITAF) marks the successful conclusion of its project, implemented from 2021 to 2023 with financial support from the European Union (EU) and the Swiss Confederation. Throughout the project duration, LIBMITAF supported Libyan institutions in various areas of migration governance. As the project concludes, it is time to reflect on the achievements with our Libyan partners.
Summary
The project will start with a comprehensive feasibility study and needs assessment of the relevant national institutions, in relation to training provision in the area of border management. This will be done in view of supporting the development of the concept and policy framework for training centre(s) in Libya under the umbrella of the Libyan agencies that have concrete mandates with respect to Border Security and Management.
Objectives
The project’s overall objective is to contribute to the improvement of Libya’s state services through the institutional development of the relevant border security and management training centre(s) aiming at improving migration and border management in line with core international human rights standards.
The project’s specific objective is to support the establishment/enhancement of the identified operational training centre(s) via the enhancement of professional standards, state services, and operational capacities.
