Start:14 May
End:14 May
Location:online
Organisers:ICMPD/ ENIGMMA
Description:

While the novel coronavirus puts all our face-to-face meetings on hold, ICMPD and Academician Levan Alexidze Foundation would like to explore the contemporary benefits of distant learning by inviting you to the ENIGMMA 2 webinar “Migration and COVID-19”, taking place on 14 May 2020 at 13:00 AM (GMT +4)

The coronavirus outbreak will have significant implications for migration and migration policy. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, movements across most borders have almost ceased completely – and policymakers are faced with the challenge of managing migration during a period of immobility. We therefore want to offer an analysis of how will the pandemic and these restrictions on movement affect global migration.

Prof. Ronald Skeldon from Maastricht University and University of Sussex will open the webinar with the keynote speech on COVID-19 impact on migration. Afterwards, Violeta Wagner, ICMPD's Regional Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia will provide an overview of migration situation in EECA region. The webinar also includes the session of Prof. Dr. Ketevan Khutsishvili, from Tbilisi State University on emergency powers of international organisations during COVID-19 and work of Georgian students on COVID-19 impact on international law

Each part of the webinar will be followed by  Q&A session. You can submit your questions during the webinar (through chat function).

The approximate duration will be 3,5 hours. The webinar will be carried out via Zoom and can be accessed directly through your browser, following the link received from us. Please join the webinar five minutes ahead of schedule to allow for technical support if needed.
