In an effort towards supporting the upcoming High-Level Dialogue (HLDMM) meeting between the EU and India in New Delhi, the CDMM project will organise a Migration Governance workshop on 10 July 2019, gathering high-level ministerial representatives of the Indian government, EU Member States, EU Institutions and Agencies, as well as international expert voices in New Delhi.

ICMPD will launch its “Student Check-List” which empowers students on all mobility aspects when considering the EU as a destination for further education. Preliminary findings from the project’s Indian diaspora studies carried out in Ireland, Germany and Italy will be shared. A knowledge sharing session on EU-India initiatives related to irregular migration will also take place (and chaired by ICMPD’s Martijn Pluim, Director for Migration Dialogues and Cooperation).

CDMM is the acronym for the EU-India Cooperation and Dialogue on Migration and Mobility which began in 2017; it is jointly implemented by ICMPD and the International Labour Organization ILO. The project has four key objectives, which are based on the EU-India Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility CAMM:

1. Strengthen regular dialogue on migration and mobility between EU and India
2. Enhance legal, policy, and administrative capacities on migration management
3. Improve the knowledge base on EU-India migration flows
4. Increase awareness and tools to adopt international standards and best practices
