Project Overview:
ICMPD is inviting all interested candidates to apply for the Project Officer for the project Improving Migration Management in the Silk Routes Countries. One component of this project is aimed at establishing Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The EU funded project “Improving Migration Management in the Silk Routes countries” will support the national government of Tajikistan, particularly the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population, and the State Migration Service (SMS), as the primary responsible government entities, in the establishment of a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Tajikistan, which will serve as an information and reference hub enhance the capacities of the existing pre-departure information centres. Through collective collaboration with other key stakeholders at the national and provincial levels, the MRC aims to increase the public’s access to general and specific information on migration; enhance capacities of government officials of the pre-departure information centres on knowledge and quality of the services provided to migrants; link up relevant government agencies for service provision; raise awareness on irregular migration and its risks; and collaborate with other migration-related stakeholders, such as the academia and civil society organisations, to provide holistic and coherent information and guidance to potential and actual migrants.


In this regard, ICMPD is seeking applications from qualified and results-oriented Tajik citizens for the position of Project Officer. The position will be based in Dushanbe with frequent travel within the country.

Job Description:
The Project Officer is responsible for the implementation of a country-specific activities of the Improving Migration Management in the Silk Route Countries - project.


The Project Officer plans and organises project activities, in particular related to the country of posting, and administers project inputs ensuring that the project activities are managed according to the approved project documentation, work plans and budgets and in line with ICMPD´s rules and business processes as well as partner and donor agreements. S/he is responsible for a timely achievement of high-quality project outputs within the project assigned.


The Project Officer develops and maintains relationships with partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders. S/he supports the work of experts and contractors ensuring high quality and timeliness of outputs. S/he conceptualises, plans and prepares substantive project outputs and produces project content and continuously assesses achieved results for quality and impact. The Project Officer contributes to the development of new initiatives and formulates and drafts concepts and documents.


The Project Officer contributes to overall planning of the project(s) and participates in project communications activities preparing content and inputs. S/he contributes to project reports and prepares inputs to donor and other substantive reports.


The Project Officer works under the supervision of a Project Manager and in close collaboration with other Project Officers in HQ. S/he organisers a joint work with project assistant in order to ensure smooth administration and logistics of project activities.
