Join us for a webinar on exit strategies for the EU’s temporary protection regime beyond March 2026
📅 Tuesday, 03 June 2025
🕔 10:30am – 12:00pm CEST
As the war in Ukraine enters its fourth year, shifting diplomatic dynamics are shaping several possible futures for the country — and for the more than 4 million displaced beneficiaries of temporary protection currently residing in the EU under the Temporary Protection Directive. While the EU recently extended temporary protection until March 2026, giving the bloc more time to develop long-term strategies, a common EU-level decision on what should follow is still pending. The Polish EU Presidency has made discussions on Ukraine and the future of beneficiaries of temporary protection a top priority, with the upcoming Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council on 12–13 June offering an opportunity to advance on these talks.
In this context, the webinar aims to take stock of the current state of play of temporary protection, explore policy scenarios that could unfold after March 2026, and deliberate the implications for each possible response for the EU, its Member States, Ukraine, and, most importantly, for more than 4 million displaced beneficiaries of temporary protection in the EU.
