ICMPD's annual Migration Outlook series provides forward - looking, evidence-based analysis of migration dynamics across key regions of the world. In 2026, this series is complemented by a Migration Outlook dedicated to the ICMPD Pan-Africa Region, which examines migration and displacement patterns and trends as well as policy developments across Sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular focus on East and the Horn of Africa, and West and Central Africa, where ICMPD Pan-Africa is already operating.
This Pan-Africa Outlook identifies six key trends expected to shape migration dynamics and policy discourse in 2026, spanning protracted conflict and displacement, climate-related mobility, humanitarian funding constraints, tightened migration controls, the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, and the untapped potential of intra-African labour mobility and regional integration frameworks.
This webinar marks the launch of the Pan-Africa Regional Migration Outlook for 2026 and intends to present these six key outlooks while providing a platform for dialogue with key stakeholders on the migration trends and governance challenges shaping Sub-Saharan Africa in the year ahead.
