The workshop was organised in March 2023 to train GIS staff in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation on setting indicators to monitor the implementation of GIS activities and their contributions to the fulfilment of the Strategic Plan. The workshop was designed to improve participants' knowledge, skills and ability to apply MEL frameworks, concepts, and principles.

The group of participants was made up of Officers from the GIS Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Department (PPMED), GIS Regional M&E Focal Persons, Strategic Plan Technical Working Group Members, ICMPD Accra staff and experts from ICMPD’s Strategy Knowledge Evaluation and Impact (SKEI) Unit. The workshop was organised in collaboration with the Strengthen Border Security (SBS) Ghana project, funded by the European Union Trust Fund for Africa.

The “Strengthening Border and Migration Management in Ghana” (SMMIG), project funded by the Government of Denmark and implemented by ICMPD is supporting the Ghana Immigration Service in developing its next 7-year strategic plan.

To ensure that the activities earmarked for the period are well implemented and targets achieved, the project is also supporting the development of a comprehensive Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework for the GIS.
