01 March 2021

ICMPD in conjunction with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and our local partner, the India Centre for Migration, launched a study on Indians in Ireland with a virtual event on 26 February, 2021.

The event served as a platform for highlighting contributions, taking stock of achievements, and underlining future opportunities for Indians in Ireland. The event was held in the presence of relevant government agencies/services from India and Ireland, embassy officials in New Delhi and Dublin, as well as representatives from Indian industry in Ireland and members of the Indian diaspora community.

An analysis of the findings of the report were provided by the study researchers Nila Kanthi Ford - former chairperson of the Ireland India Business Association (IIBA) - and Thelma Harris - diaspora engagement specialist and account manager at DHR Communications.

The event was facilitated by Naozad Hodiwala, country coordinator for India at ICMPD. Presentations were given by those working in the area of migration and diaspora issues, including: Under Secretary Raj Kumar from the Ministry of External Affairs of India; Ambassador Brendan Ward, the Irish Ambassador to India; Benoit Sauveroche from the Delegation of the European Union to India; ICMPD’s Regional Coordinator Sedef Dearing; and Marco Funk from the European Commission.
