Kick-off conference of the NACORAC Project held in Ankara

On 30 November 2022, the kick-off conference of the "Supporting the Institutional Capacity of the National Coordination and Joint Risk Analysis Centre (NACORAC)" Project was held in Ankara with high level participation. The project is implemented by ICMPD’s Western Balkans and Türkiye Regional Office and funded by the European Union.

The opening speeches of the kick-off conference were delivered by the Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Mehmet Ersoy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Director for EU Affairs Mr. Faruk Kaymakcı, the Head of the EU Delegation to Türkiye and Ambassador Mr. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, the Director General of the Provincial Administration of the Ministry of Interior Mr. Selcuk Aslan, and the ICMPD Director General Mr. Michael Spindelegger.

The kick-off conference was attended by the managers and representatives of the relevant public institutions, diplomatic missions, and international organizations. The project has a total budget of 1.2 million Euros and it is implemented in cooperation with the General Directorate of Provincial Administration of the Ministry of Interior.

Meeting with the Minister of Interior

Following the kick-off conference, the Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Mehmet Ersoy, the Head of the EU Delegation to Türkiye, Ambassador Mr. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut and ICMPD Director General Mr. Michael Spindelegger visited NACORAC premises during which a handover certificate of previously provided equipment under EU funded projects was signed between MoI and EU Delegation to Türkiye. A gift was presented to ICMPD Director General Mr. Michael Spindelegger by the Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Mehmet Ersoy as an expression of gratitude for ICMPD’s support to NACORAC.

About NACORAC

The NACORAC project aims to support institutional capacity of newly established NACORAC Department and to foster cooperation and coordination among relevant stakeholders in the field of integrated border management. By the end of the project, NACORAC Department will have produced its first Annual Joint Risk Analysis Report for 2024 by analysing border management data to be provided by project stakeholders, which have a role in the integrated border management system of Türkiye.
