On 14-16 and 16-18 February, the NAVRR Pillar 1 project held two trainings on effective pre-departure and post-arrival assistance delivery, aiming to strengthen Turkey’s National Assisted Voluntary Return & Reintegration (NAVRR) programme. The trainings were organised for the participants from the Presidency of Migration Management (PMM), its provincial departments and the Turkish Red Crescent.

An ICMPD expert, alongside experts from the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII), the Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers of Belgium (FEDASIL), and the International Returns and Reintegration Assistance (IRARA) contributed to putting the focus on effective pre-return, post-arrival and reintegration assistance delivery in countries of origin.

The ICMPD expert presented a comprehensive overview of the NAVRR programme: the role of stakeholders, key moments in the pre-departure phase and the departure phase, planning, and implementation of NAVRR service delivery, and reintegration assistance as well as the monitoring and evaluation of the reintegration assistance programs. Experts from OFII and FEDASIL contributed on the AVRR programme implemented in France and Belgium, especially focusing on their experience and procedures in the pre-departure phase. The experts from IRARA and OFII representation in Cameroon shared their experience and works on reintegration assistance delivery in countries of origin, Bangladesh and Cameroon respectively.

The activity is held under ICMPD’s supporting the implementation and further strengthening of Turkey’s National Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration System (NAVRR Pillar 1) Project, funded by the Netherlands and implemented by ICMPD in cooperation with the Presidency of Migration Management and Turkish Red Crescent.
