ICMPD Director General, Dr. Michael Spindelegger, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to supporting Lebanon in various fields of relevance to migration, particularly within the context of the on-going refugees crisis and its ramifications in Lebanon.

The statement of support came during his discussions today with the general director of Lebanon’s General Directorate of the Security General (DGSG), Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim, who reiterated his readiness to deepen cooperation with ICMPD, and expressed appreciation to the ongoing collaboration between DGSG and the Vienna-based international organisation, namely through the EU funded IBM Lebanon project, which is also supported by the Netherlands.

The meeting held at DGSG headquarters in Beirut included the participation of the director of ICMPD's Southern Dimension Directorate, Lukas Gehrke, and the Senior Manager of the IBM Lebanon project, Borut Erzen.

Ibrahim and Spindelegger agreed to pursue further opportunities for cooperation, including the intensification of international efforts to work with Lebanon in addressing the needs of the country vis a vis the refugees situation and the movement of displaced persons in Lebanon.
