Summary

TNP NEXUS Project, aims to build upon the TNP FORGERY project’s successful capacity building efforts targeting Turkish National Police (TNP) personnel, albeit with the expanded perspective towards the whole of route approach. TNP NEXUS Project will expand its scope starting from the prevention of irregular migration at source countries like Iraq; strengthening document analysis capacity at eastern Turkish border gates, supporting counter-migrant smuggling efforts at critical border gates and prioritized provinces in Türkiye; and finally preventing irregular exits with forged documents and/or through organized crime networks from Türkiye. This comprehensive intervention acknowledges the whole-of- route approach ensuring critical linkages between document forgery and migrant smuggling as well as initiating preventative measures from source countries expanding through transit and target countries.

TNP Nexus Project will reinforce law enforcement efforts against irregular migration by enhancing the technical and operational capacity of TNP in identifying forged documents, ensuring increased border security and more effective investigations. Furthermore, the Project will include a new focus on strengthening counter-migrant smuggling efforts of TNP. This will enable a complementary and holistic approach to tackling irregular migration and organized crime.
