Summary

The project “Migration Awareness, Access to Reintegration and Strengthening capacities II in Iraq (MAARC-II)”, funded by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration and implemented by ICMPD, focuses on enhancing the operational capacities of the Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Erbil as a one- stop-shop responding to the needs of the potential, outgoing, and returning migrants in making their migration decisions in an informed and safe manner through an array of services i.e. counselling, outreach and referral– while at the same time advancing the knowledge and operational capacities of government personnel, including MRC staff and national authorities.

The project aims at contributing to increased awareness and understanding of migration processes, referral mechanisms, and services for outgoing, intending, and returning migrants in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I), and strengthened migration management capacities of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which together will contribute to increasing sustainable reintegration and decreasing irregular migration over the longer term.
