Objective:

The project aimed to significantly increase the knowledge and capacities of relevant State institutions, NGOs and IOs to prevent, identify and refer trafficking cases among the vulnerable groups arriving and residing in Türkiye under the temporary protection regime. It also targeted to contribute substantially to the longer-term resilience of the large displaced population in Türkiye to trafficking and exploitation, through the promotion of access to regular employment.

Summary:

Seeking to adapt the existing anti-trafficking response to the particular needs, vulnerabilities and challenges of Syrians under temporary protection, the project comprised of two components. First one was capacity building to increase victim identification and improve services to trafficking victims among vulnerable populations. Second one focused on targeted information campaigns on the labour rights and trafficking prevention for people under temporary protection. These activities were specifically designed to address the specific issues facing service-providers and other State stakeholders, NGOs and IOs in the southern and south-eastern provinces where most Syrians reside, and in Istanbul, in responding to trafficking among this group. PICTOR also sought to improve the resilience of this population to trafficking, by providing them with targeted information on anti-trafficking, and on their labour and other rights.

Within the scope of the project, TOT manual was developed to assist all stakeholders to combat trafficking in human beings. This manual specially aimed to increase the awareness on identification of victims and national referral mechanism among all actors and created a tool enabling the realization of trainings to others on trafficking in human beings and thereby, will contribute to the sustainability. 2 TOT Trainings in Ankara were conducted for DGMM migration experts. Likewise, 3 Multi-disciplinary trainings were realised in Hatay, Şanlıurfa, Istanbul with participation of relevant stakeholders. The content of the targeted information campaign was developed in English and Turkish which was delivered to DGMM.
