Summary
The project supports the organisation of a large-scale simulation exercise on Standard Operating Procedures for search and rescue at sea and disembarkation of migrants, in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Together with Civipol (SOPs Search and Rescue), ICMPD will oversee the overall planning and coordination of the exercise, which will test, in situ, existing procedures, from the reception of the alert to the final referrals of disembarked migrants.
The project will aim to enhance the implementation of the Standard Operational Procedures on disembarkation of migrants and to strengthen operational coordination between national and local institutions, as well as international partners, with a focus on the respect of the fundamental rights of migrants at all stages of the procedures.
