On 26 February, ICMPD's Director General delivered a speech at the reception organised by Côte d'Ivoire, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and Prosper Africa.

On 20 February 2019, ICMPD's Director General Michael Spindelegger took part in the 6th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference. 

On Thursday 22nd November, Mr. Spindelegger gave the keynote speech at the Club of Venice Plenary meeting entitled: “Communicating Europe - Recovering Citizens' trust in the EU and in their public authorities – Communication challenges and strategies.”

On 31 May 2018 ICMPD's Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered a keynote at the Western Balkans and the European Union: National Systems for Combating Human Trafficking in Southeast Europe in the Context of the Accession Process.

On 28 May 2018, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger participated  in the International Peace Studies Conference in Vienna, Austria. 

Om 17 May, ICMPD Director General delivered a speech at the Thematic Conference on Border Security in Sofia, organised by the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

From 16-17 April the Second Preparatory Meeting for the 6th Budapest Ministerial Conference took place in Turkey. ICMPD Director General delivered an opening speech.

On 12 April, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger participated  in the Ministerial Meeting during the Salzburg Forum, Vienna Process.

ICMPD's Director General Michael Spindelegger took part in the informal meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers in Sofia, Bulgaria 25-26 January. He addressed the participants during the working lunch on the topic of "Global aspects of migration: Discussion on the main building blocks of the future Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration".

On 12 January 2018 the ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger opened the ICMPD-organised event on the future of Border Management in Europe.
