On 27 June, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger held an opening speech at the "Mobility Partnership Conference" in Baku, Azerbaijan. 

On the 24th October 2019, ICMPD Director General, Michael Spindelegger, addressed the Europe Conference ‘From Tampere 20 to Tampere 2.0: Towards a New Programme (2020–2024) for EU Migration and Asylum Policies 20 years after the Tampere Conclusions?’.

On the 14th November 2019, ICMPD DG, Michael Spindelegger addressed the 'UCLG Congress, World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders Panel: The Future of Migrations' in Durban, South Africa.

On the 21st November, Michael Spindelegger opened the Vienna Migration Conference 2019, with a speech entitled "Breaking the gridlock and moving forward:Recommendations for the next five years of EU migration policy". 

On the 22nd November, Michael Spindelegger opened the second day of the Vienna Migration Conference 2019.

On 9 July 2020, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered the opening speech at the high-level public webinar "Future of the AU-EU Partnership on Migration and Mobility in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic".

On 6 October, 2020 ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered a keynote speech at the German Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria. 

On 12 October, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered a keynote speech at the Global Relations Forum Istanbul. 

On 23 November 2020, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered the opening speech at the 3rd International Border Management. 

On the 22 January 2021, Michael Spindelegger delivered a speech at the Avenir Suisse fifth Annual Think Tank Summit about the topic “Creating transnational conditions for return and reintegration”. 

ICMPD's Director General Mr Michael Spindelegger gave a speech on 01 September 2016 at the ADA (Austrian Development Agency) Annual Conference 2016. The topic of this year's conference was "Fragility".

On the occasion of the 71st United Nations General Assembly and the high-level plenary meeting addressing large movements of refugee and migrants, taking place on Monday, 19 September 2016 in New York ICMPD Director General Mr Michael Spindelegger addressed the UN General Assembly.

On the occassion of his inauguration as Director General of ICMPD, Mr Michael Spindelegger gave speeches both at the Brussels mission on 26 January, as well as in Vienna on 29 January. In his speeches, Mr Spindelegger discussed his vision of strengthening ICMPD's role as a think and do-tank and furthermore enhancing the role which the organisation is taking in assisting governments and regional organisations on migration issues.

On 11-12 November 2015, heads of states and government from the EU and Africa met in Valletta for a summit on migration. At this meeting, heads of states adopted a political declaration as well as an action plan. ICMPD participated in the summit and spoke during the official meetings. 

The Ministerial Conference organised under the Bulgarian Salzburg Forum Presidency on 18-19 November 2015 gave yet another opportunity to discuss the leading issues of mixed migration flows, migration pressure, security, terrorism and the way to address them. Mr Michael Spindelegger, Director General elect of ICMPD, underlined in his speech that the current migration crisis challenges migration systems of all affected countries, be it of transit or destination.

ICMPD Director Michael Spindelegger held a keynote speech at the Danish Foreign Policy Society in Copenhagen on 21 March 2017. 

ICMPD's Director General Mr Michael Spindelegger gave a speech on 30 June 2016 at the Crans Montana Forum on the occassion of their 27th Annual Session. The topic of the session was "The New Challenge of Migration is changing Our World."

On 12 April, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger participated  in the Ministerial Meeting during the Salzburg Forum, Vienna Process.

From 16-17 April the Second Preparatory Meeting for the 6th Budapest Ministerial Conference took place in Turkey. ICMPD Director General delivered an opening speech.

Om 17 May, ICMPD Director General delivered a speech at the Thematic Conference on Border Security in Sofia, organised by the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

On 28 May 2018, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger participated  in the International Peace Studies Conference in Vienna, Austria. 

On 31 May 2018 ICMPD's Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered a keynote at the Western Balkans and the European Union: National Systems for Combating Human Trafficking in Southeast Europe in the Context of the Accession Process.
