During a visit to Uzbekistan, ICMPD Director General signed a Memorandum of Understanding between ICMPD and the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The mission started in Samarkand, Uzbekistan where ICMPD Director General, Michael Spindelegger, visited the Ishga Markhamat mono-centre for the unemployed as well as the Vocational Training Centre for Unemployed (KOICA).
In Tashkent, the Director General met with numerous representatives of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, when the MOU signing took place. At the forefront of the meeting, migration issues such as regulating the processes of employment of citizens of Uzbekistan in European countries and ensuring their labour rights were discussed.

ICMPD opens a Ukrainian Consultation Centre in Düsseldorf

On 18 September 2025, ICMPD's Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia officially opened a new Ukrainian Consultation Centre (UCC) in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Centre was established within the framework of the Comprehensive Resilience Support for Displaced Persons from Ukraine (CORE-UA) project, funded by the (National) German AMIF Programme 2021-2027 and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

The 17th Annual Review Meeting (ARM) of the ECOWAS Regional Network of National Focal Institutions against Trafficking in Persons Plus (RNNI-TIP+) concluded in Lagos, Nigeria, with Member States reaffirming their commitment to tackling Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and addressing its interlinked challenges of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC).
