On 9 July 2026, the Migration Resource Centre (MRC) hosted the latest edition of its “Yak Piyola Choy with Media” event, bringing together media representatives and migration stakeholders to strengthen cooperation on promoting safe and regular migration. The event also marked the 10th anniversary of the MRC network.

The event convened 19 participants, including representatives of government institutions, international organisations, media outlets, migration experts, bloggers and private employment agencies. It provided a platform to exchange perspectives on migration trends, discuss challenges related to migration-related fraud, and highlight the importance of accurate, accessible information in supporting informed migration decisions.

During the session, the MRC presented its services for prospective, current and returning migrants, demonstrating how information and guidance contribute to safer migration pathways.

Discussions focused on three key areas:

  • Migration trends: analysing the current landscape of migration and emerging developments.
  • Preventing migration-related fraud: addressing migration-related scams, deceptive practices and the importance of informed decision-making.
  • The role of information: highlighting the media's contribution to providing accurate, reliable information that supports safe and regular migration

Representatives from Oila.tj, Your.tj, MIR TV and Radio Vatan shared their experiences of reporting on migration issues and reflected on the media's contribution to informing the public. The discussions also featured testimonials on successful migration and reintegration experiences, illustrating the positive outcomes that can be achieved through safe and regular migration.

The event generated several practical outcomes that will support continued cooperation. MIR TV produced a dedicated report covering the event and the MRC's activities, reaching a potential audience of more than 180 million viewers across CIS countries¹. Oila.tj further expanded the event's visibility through social media coverage on Instagram.

Participants also reactivated the WhatsApp group established during previous editions of "Yak Piyola Choy", providing a platform for continued exchange between media representatives and migration stakeholders, as well as the sharing of timely information and relevant updates.

The event concluded with a shared commitment among participants to continue strengthening cooperation, supporting evidence-based reporting, and promoting public awareness of safe and regular migration.
