After Russia’s invasion in February 2022, millions of Ukrainians made the painful decision to leave everything behind. With their entire towns destroyed, and uncertain of what was ahead of them, crossing borders also did not bring immediate relief. How would one navigate a foreign country where the language, laws and systems are unfamiliar? Many of those forced to leave faced new struggles not only for survival, but also to regain a sense of stability.
Summary
The main goal of the project is to ensure safe mobility of displaced Ukrainians and, at the same time, to ensure that the advisory services provided comply with the German and EU directives on the granting of temporary protection as well as other directives related to legal residence and safe return. The activities under this programme will positively impact the organisation of adaptation efforts for displaced Ukrainians in Germany and facilitate preparations on the German side regarding the future of their temporary protection status, whether through legalising their stay, integrating them or enabling their safe and dignified return home.
