Summary
The project is in response to escalating security challenges in West Africa, where porous borders, the spillover of terrorism from the Sahel, transnational organised crime, socio economic constraints, and limited state presence in certain border communities combine to heighten vulnerability and instability. It focuses on four core intervention areas: (i) capacity-building for national border management agencies; (ii) improving interagency coordination and information-sharing mechanisms; (iii) strengthening cross-border and international cooperation; and (iv) enhancing community engagement and inclusive border management at the local level.
