Students, youth tackle contemporary issues on migration - ICMPD hosted the 2024 International Summer School on Migration

On 7-12 July, ICMPD hosted students and youth at the 2024 International Summer School on Migration in Kachreti, Georgia. The participants discussed the impact of migration on international law and its legal aspects, media and the perception of migrants, migration’s role in the economy, migration and development, and integration and citizenship.

Successful conclusion of the ALBSaM project: Closing Event and Key Achievements

Advancing Libya’s Border Security and Management (ALBSaM) celebrated the conclusion of the project with a Closing Event on 14 October 2024 in Tripoli, Libya. Implemented from January 2023 to October 2024 with financial support from the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, the project aimed at contributing to the progress of border security and management institutional reforms in Libya. Key achievements include supporting the development of a draft Integrated Border Management (IBM) Strategy. As the project draws to a close, this event provided an opportunity to reflect on its achievements alongside our Libyan partners.

Vienna Migration Conference 2024 discussed safe pathways and labour mobility, irregular migration, international partnerships, and roll-out of EU Pact

The Vienna Migration Conference on 22-23 October 2024 highlighted discussions on pathways for safe and regular migration, addressing irregular arrivals, enhancing approaches to labour migration, and the efforts needed for the implementation the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. Hosted by ICMPD, this year’s VMC gathered over 300 delegates from government, private sector, academia and research, think tanks, international organisations, and civil society.

Innovative pathways to strengthen EU-Africa cooperation for skills mobility

The Joint High-Level Meeting of the Khartoum Process and Rabat Process gathered representatives from 53 African and European partner countries, to discuss innovative pathways for labour migration, skills development, and talent mobility. On 16-17 October 2024 in Lisbon, over 150 high-level delegates exchanged strategic ways-forward on the growing importance of labour migration, skills development and talent mobility for both Africa and Europe.

Call for Applications: ICMPD International Summer School on Migration

The ICMPD Summer School is a collaborative effort among the EU-funded “Strengthening Development Impact of Migration in Georgia” (STREAMinG 2) project, and the Prague Process, with all two initiatives led by ICMPD.

The 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, took place on 11-13 April in Antalya. With the theme “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World,” this year’s Forum gathered more than 6,000 participants including 21 Heads of State and Government, and 67 Ministers from 155 countries.

Budapest Process countries convene in Pakistan, to tackle legal pathways for migration

Over 60 officials from 16 countries and eight international organisations held the Budapest Process Thematic Meeting on Legal Pathways for Migration in Pakistan. The meeting specifically focused on strengthening the existing policies and pathways for legal migration and labour mobility, setting the strategic foundation for the dialogue's work in the coming years.

EU-Funded BOMCA 10 completes 10th phase, strengthening regional cooperation

On 5 September 2025, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) marked the completion of its 10th phase with a Closing Conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The event gathered more than 100 high-level representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and national agencies of the five Central Asian countries, the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic, EU Member States’ embassies, international organisations and the BOMCA Consortium and Associated Partners.
