Funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the MMD Grant Facility is an initiative to support and engage Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the dialogue on migration governance between African and European countries.
The MMD Grant Facility is a component of the Support Programme to the Africa-EU Migration and Mobility Dialogue (MMD) that acts as the main framework for dialogue on migration and mobility between Africa and the EU. Now in its third phase, the MMD Programme strives for orderly, safe, regular and responsible migration and mobility of people while strengthening migration governance through a structured cooperation.
The MMD Grant Facility Second Call for Proposals offers to support initiatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) and non-state actors operating on a non-profit basis, including Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), social enterprises, universities, research centres, diaspora organisations, etc., through grants ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 EUR.
Awarded projects must contribute to the operationalisation of Migration and Mobility Dialogues (Rabat Process, Khartoum Process, and the Continent-to-Continent Migration and Mobility Dialogue), or/and generate knowledge, research, and policy inputs on migration and development.
For a duration of 6 months only (until March 1st, 2027), the selected initiatives need to align with one or more of the five Joint Valetta Action Plan priority domains, or address transversal themes (e.g. climate migration, migration and gender, migration and health) and be implemented in up to three (3) countries with at least one (1) African Union (AU) Member State.
This Grant Facility can support an individual applicant or a lead applicant with one (1) only co-applicant (an AU-based co-applicant is mandatory for EU-based lead applicants, unless they are a diaspora organisation, whereas AU-based lead applicants are not required to have a co-applicant). Each organisation may participate in only one application under this Call, whether as the lead applicant, a co-applicant, or an affiliated entity.
Applications can be submitted in both English and French before May 1st, 2026, 17:00 (CEST) through the ICMPD Electronic Application Platform.
For any further questions on the application procedure or general inquiries related to the call for proposals, applicants can submit them before April 23rd 2026, through this link: ICMPD Electronic Tendering Site - Tenders - Appraisal.
An information session is scheduled on April 16th at 10h00 Vienna time, to attend that Zoom meeting, a registration through this link Webinar Registration - Zoom is required.
