FReMM holds a Good Practice Workshop on monitoring forced returns for Moldovan stakeholders

On 24 March, ICMPD organised a workshop for Moldovan stakeholders in the framework of the project “Development of a Forced-Return Monitoring System in the Republic of Moldova” (FReMM) to present them with the EU good practices on monitoring forced returns and identify elements applicable to the country’s context. The workshop gathered representatives from the Moldovan Bureau for Migration and Asylum, People’s Advocates Office of Moldova, the NGO Law Centre of Advocates, as well as ICMPD project and expert team. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the project team organized the workshop remotely.

FReM III organises a Training for Forced-Return Monitors in the Netherlands

On 15-19 March 2021, ICMPD and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) organised a training for forced-return monitors at the Border Security Training Centre of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee in Schiphol, the Netherlands. This activity took place within the EU funded project Forced-Return Monitoring III (FReM III).

Ukrainian border guard officers trained to deliver efficient presentations with EU support

ICMPD Silk Routes in Pakistan organised handover ceremony for FIA in Pakistan

12 March 2021

Within the framework of the Integrated Border Management (IBM) in the Silk Routes Countries project, funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by ICMPD, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of Pakistan was given 100 books on Basic Knowledge Document Recognition and 100 magnifiers for FIA’s front line Immigration Officers. FIA and ICMPD jointly organised a handover ceremony on Wednesday, 10 March 2021.

Webinar on Asylum Management Systems in Turkey and Digitalisation

The fourth session of the Talking Migration Webinar Series was conducted on the 25th of February by ICMPD Turkey, discussing the impact of COVID-19 on asylum management. The session contributed to discussions on how the Turkish asylum system coped with COVID-19, and the increased use of new technologies in asylum management that stem from the needs identified during the pandemic.

The Lebanese Army’s Land Border Regiments’ Training School reaps positive results

February 2018, The Land Border Regiments’ Training School (CTS), a small, unassuming unit of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) is established with a simple yet ambitious goal: to become an integrated border management training centre of excellence. Against all the odds, but with the continuous support of ICMPD’s Netherlands’ Assistance to Lebanese Border Agencies (IBM) Project, the School has grown to become one of Lebanon’s most sought–after and trusted training institutions.

Mission to Tripoli to meet with Libyan counterparts

In the framework of its monthly missions to Libya, ICMPD representatives visited Tripoli in January 2021 to meet with Libyan counterparts to discuss ICMPD activities in Libya to finalise the contracting for the ICMPD Libya office. The activity took place under the framework of the EU-funded project "Strategic and Institutional Management of Migration in Libya".
