On 25 June, the EU4IBM-Resilience project, funded by the EU and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), delivered a modern cargo X-ray scanner to the “Chop (Tysa)” border crossing point. Valued at approximately EUR 2.5 million EUR, this donation is part of the "EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes" initiative launched to ensure the efficient flow of trade across Ukraine's borders after the Russian full-scale invasion.
Objective
The project contributes to the resilience and reinforcement of the border management in Ukraine by strengthening the capacities of Ukrainian IBM agencies in the context of war. This will help ensure, in the long term, safe international mobility of people, including by countering human trafficking, irregular migration and other forms of security threats, facilitation of trade through adapted trade routes, and increased level of security at the Ukrainian borders protecting both Ukraine and EU from conventional and hybrid threats and knock-on effects of the war.
