Summary

The project evaluated 19 BCPs, several ports and airports in terms of the IBM concept and to evaluate their IT connectivity needs. There is a need for greater connectivity, integrated border management and better information sharing, as well as improved coordination between all stakeholders in the field of border security. At the end of the project, SEFRO/SICA received a study of each BCP and a general study in which both the IT connectivity needs and the needs for implementing the IBM concept were stressed. These studies will contribute towards strengthening border security (internal and peripheral boundaries) in the Central American region and possibly influence future planning of activities in this field.
