Summary
The project aims to provide sustainable, quality assured, and effective professional migration vocational education and training systems in Algeria through capacity partnerships that recognise and promote Algerian vocational expertise and competence.
Algeria’s strategic position as both a transit and destination country makes it central to migration governance efforts across the Mediterranean. Through cooperation with ICMPD under the Migration Capacity Partnerships operational framework, the project supports Algeria in developing professionalised training systems for migration practitioners, building a network of accredited trainers, and licensing premises to deliver European-accredited courses. Activities include developing tailored curricula, training trainers, conducting Training Needs Analyses, and establishing governance structures. This professionalisation effort responds to Algeria’s national migration priorities while contributing to regional dialogue, education, and South-South cooperation. The initiative is multi-donor funded, with support from partners including the Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland.
