Member States Programme (MSP)

Key Activities and Support Areas

Knowledge Component

As a knowledge hub, the MSP offers Member States exclusive access to ICMPD’s evidence base, expert insights, and regional networks. It supports policy development by disseminating key findings from ICMPD’s research, policy, and operational work, while fostering peer-to-peer learning through formats such as roundtables, briefings, and study visits. This component also delivers tailored knowledge products—such as background papers, situational or institutional analyses, and targeted studies—aligned with Member States’ policy priorities. These are designed to support various processes, including EU Presidencies and ICMPD Steering Group Chairmanships, with timely, relevant analysis on migration governance.

Operational Component

The Operational Component represents the Programme’s implementation-oriented strand and is delivered primarily through dedicated technical assistance projects. It covers the design and execution of targeted activities such as drafting migration legislation, developing standard operating procedures, establishing coordination mechanisms, building institutional capacities, and deploying practical tools to support migration management. This component responds to direct requests from Member States and aims to produce measurable operational results.
