From 16-17 April the Second Preparatory Meeting for the 6th Budapest Ministerial Conference took place in Turkey. ICMPD Director General delivered an opening speech.

On 14 June 2018, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered a speech at Salzburg Forum Ministerial Conference - Policing in a Connected World in Bucharest, Romania.

On 4 July 2018, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered a speech at opening of the first Migrant Resource Centre in Afghanistan, Kabul.

On 17 July 2018, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger delivered a speech at round table on the achievements and developments in the area of Home Affairs during Bulgaria’s Presidency of the EU.

On Thursday 22nd November, Mr. Spindelegger gave the keynote speech at the Club of Venice Plenary meeting entitled: “Communicating Europe - Recovering Citizens' trust in the EU and in their public authorities – Communication challenges and strategies.”

On 20 February 2019, ICMPD's Director General Michael Spindelegger took part in the 6th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference. 

On 26 February, ICMPD's Director General delivered a speech at the reception organised by Côte d'Ivoire, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and Prosper Africa.

ICMPD Director Michael Spindelegger held a keynote speech at the Danish Foreign Policy Society in Copenhagen on 21 March 2017. 

On 27 June the 4th Global Mayoral Forum On Human Mobility, Migration and Development took place in Berlin, Germany. ICMPD Director General shared some remarks at the opening of Session 3 "Working through multi-stakeholder partnerships to enhance the development impact of migration and forced displacement".   

On 17 October ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger opened the events season 2017-18 of the Global Strategy Forum in London with a key note speech. 

From 23 to 24 October, the Vienna Migration Conference took place in Vienna, Austria. ICMPD's flagship conference took place for the second time and dealt with the theme "Migration Partnerships - Frameworks for safe, orderly and regular migration".

On 7 November 2017, ICMPD signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UN Habitat in Lebanon. 

ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger held a keynote speech at the Shared Awareness and DE-confliction in the Mediterranean 2-2017 in Rome, Italy, on 23 November 2017. The topic of the  conference was  “Situational Awareness, Information Exchange and Capacity Building: fundamental pillars of Maritime Security in the Mediterranean Sea.”

On 12 January 2018 the ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger opened the ICMPD-organised event on the future of Border Management in Europe. 

ICMPD's Director General Michael Spindelegger took part in the informal meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers in Sofia, Bulgaria 25-26 January. He addressed the participants during the working lunch on the topic of "Global aspects of migration: Discussion on the main building blocks of the future Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration".

On 12 April, ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger participated  in the Ministerial Meeting during the Salzburg Forum, Vienna Process.

ICMPD's Director General Mr Michael Spindelegger gave a speech on 01 September 2016 at the ADA (Austrian Development Agency) Annual Conference 2016. The topic of this year's conference was "Fragility".

On the occasion of the 71st United Nations General Assembly and the high-level plenary meeting addressing large movements of refugee and migrants, taking place on Monday, 19 September 2016 in New York ICMPD Director General Mr Michael Spindelegger addressed the UN General Assembly.
