Technical Assistance for Improving Administrative Capacity of Border Management at Local Level (IBM-LOC-CAP)

Objective: The overall objective of this project is to achieve the EU overall strategic goal of open and secure borders by developing and strengthening Turkey’s institutional capacity for alignment with EU integrated border management policy. 

The specific objectives are to:
  • Raise awareness and increase capacity in civil administration, notably district governors responsible for border management issues on local level, on border management;
  • Promote an enabling environment for comprehensive IBM among civil administrators through sustainable training approach and methodology.

Better coordination of protection of the land border between Georgia and Azerbaijan (Ge Az IBM)

Objective: The overall objective of the project is to improve the operational capacities of the border agencies of Azerbaijan and Georgia by organising and carrying out coordinated operations at the green border, leading to an eventual positive impact on overall security in the region and in the whole European Neighbourhood. More specifically, the project seeks to:

  • support the institutional development and capacity building of the Georgian Border Police and State Border Service of Azerbaijan, including building capacity to conduct coordinated and joint actions and exchange of information as appropriate
  • improve the operational capacities of the Georgian Border Police and State Border Service of Azerbaijan through provision of better infrastructure and modern technology.

Border Management and Border Communities in the Sahel region

Objective: The overall objective of the action is to support the development and initial implementation of strategies to improve interaction of legitimate State border management authorities with local population. in three trans-boundary areas of the Sahel. Specifically, that the ICMPD action provides trainings and technical assistance on border management to the agencies involved in the border management of the five Sahel countries to ensure that involvement of border communities is developed into policy and plans for the three selected trans-boundary areas:

  • Mauritania – Mali border (area of Bassikounou)
  • Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger (Liptakoa-Gourma ‘triangle’
  • Niger-Chad (Lake Chad)

Strengthening Surveillance and Bilateral Coordination Capacity among the Common Border between the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine (SURCAP II)

Objective: This project aims to contribute to the enhancement of security levels on the BelarusianUkrainian border; to help improve international cooperation between the border services of the two beneficiary countries; and to help the beneficiary countries increase legal trade and, as a consequence, tax revenue.

Provision of Equipment and Infrastructure for the Bagratashen–Sadakhlo Border Crossing Point between Armenia and Georgia and Enhancement of Their Capacities (BSIBM)

Objective: The project's overall objective is to introduce European standards of integrated border management at the BagratashenSadakhlo Border Crossing Point on the Armenia-Georgia border with the ultimate goal of facilitating trade and transit and enhancing the movement of people across the border.
