Support Programme to Integrated Border Management in Tunisia (IBM Tunisia)

Objectives: To support the modernisation and contribute to the strengthening of the capacities of the national institutions in charge of border management in Tunisia.

The specific objectives are: 

1. To support the implementation of a coordinated national policy on integrated border management in order to contribute to the strengthening of the capacities of the national authorities in the fight against transnational crime and the prevention of irregular migration;

2. To support the modernisation and the strengthening of the national authorities in charge of border control at the land, sea and air Border Crossing Points and in charge of surveillance of the blue and green borders.

Assessment and Capacity Development for Integrated Border Management in Central Asia Under BOMCA Programme (Phase VII)

Serbia IBM Twinning

Objective: The overall objective was to achieve 'open borders' but, at the same time, to ensure that Serbia’s borders are controlled and secure.

Summary: The main focus was on facilitating the institutional, operational and procedural reforms within IBM relevant services by assisting the Serbian authorities in the implementation of Serbia’s IBM strategy and the associated action plan in line with EU standards.

Strengthening Capacities and Cooperation in the Identification of Forged and Falsified Travel Documents at the Moldova-Romania Border

Objective: The project contributed to an increased effectiveness of the fight against illegal migration by the Moldovan authorities.

Summary: Within the framework of this project, a report of the assessment mission to Moldova from 1015 August 2009 was produced. The report anaylsed the situation in the field of document security, identified gaps and needs and contained concrete recommendations for the adaption of the system according to EU standards and good practices.
